North Korean Government
The Government of North Korea claims to be a democratic socialist state. This is really not true, though. North Korea is simply a Dictatorship run by Kim Jong-Un. They also claim that the government is comprised of three branches. These three branches are the Administrative, Legislative, and Judicial. This is really just a facade to protect their leader.
The Legislative branch is called the Supreme People's Assembly. It is the unicameral legislature of North Korea. The leader of the Assembly Kim Yong-Nam. This legislative branch is made up of 687 seats that are filled by people from different parts of the country. Elections are held every five years and the next one is in 2019.
The Administrative branch is basically like the Executive Branch in our government. It is lead by Kim Jong-Un as he is recognized as the Supreme Leader. His headquarters is located Ryongsong Residence. He is a part of the Korean Workers' Party. His father was Supreme Leader before him.
The Judicial Branch is very similar to the branch in the U.S. of the same name. Just like in the United States the highest court is referred to as the Supreme Court. This main court is located in the Capitol city of Pyongyang. The Supreme Court is made up of a Chief Justice and two People' Assessors. Considering that the Supreme Leader is a crazy Dictator, the decisions of the Court are often foregone conclusions.
